Water for Africa works closely with Lutheran World Relief and IMA World Health. We seek to partner with faith based non-governmental organizations with a solid track record, transparent accounting, and low overhead costs.
We have partnered with Oxfam and with the U.S. Army Airborne Rangers to bring LifeStraws to Puerto Rico, and with the Australian Air Force to deliver Community LifeStraw Water filters to the Vanuatu.
LifeStraw personal and Community water filters are produced by Vestergaard Frandsen, a company founded in 1957 which specializes in water filters and mosquito netting to prevent malaria. Vestergaard Frandsen produces a great water filter which is inexpensive, has no moving parts, is portable, and has no need for electricity, and filters out 99.9999% of all waterborne bacteria. The individual units are good for one person’s daily use for up to a year, and the community units are good for 100 people for three years. We are thankful for our partnership.
